“vital information
on getting published”
In 90 minutes, David Hazard will walk you through a virtual book publishing committee meeting, telling you exactly what each member of a review committee, from the publisher to the promotions director, needs to hear to give the "thumbs-up" vote for your manuscript. Afterwards, he'll field all your questions about agents, contracts, and e-book publishing.
Getting Publishers to Say 'Yes'! is a very popular short seminar, during which he opens the doors of publishing committee conference rooms where the decision is made to accept or pass on a manuscript. Maybe your manuscript.
At Secrets of Narrative Writing... that Sells, David Hazard will train you in energy boarding, a more powerful, successful technique than traditional 'storyboarding', to help you create dynamic narratives -- whether fiction or non-fiction -- that will grab and hold your readers' (and publisher's!) interest.

Workshops
Art * iculation
A 4-hour workshop on finding your writing voice... for visual artists
Exhibitions, shows, and galleries -- also personal websites -- require both a clear artist's statement and a compelling description of your work. As a painter, sculptor, potter, woodcarver, it's important to know how to say in words what comes to you by feel and intuition. David Hazard will help artists to capture the words that so often escape visual artists when asked to articulate why they do what they do. Artists learn how to:
- identify the strong elements of their personal voice... as it emerges in their work
- understand and connect with their audience
- create simple and compelling personal statements for promotional and marketing copy

Memoir Writing Workshop: It's a (Strange and) Wonderful Life
A one-day workshop on mining your personal or family history
Memoir publishing is enjoying a strong resurgence. Do you have a life story, or experience, that needs to be told? Why not explore the richness of your story?
Whether you're writing for the public, or for your family's benefit, it's important to know how to find two things: first, the most interesting thread of your story line (out of all those threads that make up a life) ... and second, the golden thread we call "theme", so that your personal story will connect with and speak to others.
You will learn how to:
- create a compelling story-board to help you choose your material
- develop your "cast of characters"
- build a theme that connects your story with your readers
This is a content-rich event, created specially to focus and jumpstart your writing.
